Terms & Conditions

(1) The 2015 FORGIVENESS ART CHALLENGE! Art Challenge runs from July 1st, 2015 to September 25th, 2015. All entries are to be either digitally submitted or postmarked no later than 11:59pm U.S. Pacific Time on September 25th, 2015. Public voting begins on October 5th and ends October 30th 2015.

(2) Entries must be submitted using the guidelines stated on (these can be sent to you as well).

(3) Submitted artwork must be your original creation! Only done or created by inmate and or ex-offender artists.

(4) You may submit multiple entries.

(5) All contestants will be required to agree to the Art Contest Terms & Conditions in order to enter.

(6) All artwork must refer to the 1HeartArt FORGIVENESS theme; by including, visibly and legibly the visual expression or phrase of FORGIVENESS.

(7) All contestants must register for this contest by entering their name, DOC #, email if any, age, and facility name & mailing address, and agreeing to the terms and conditions of the contest.

(8) The Art Challenge submitted art pieces will be judged by a 1HeartArt volunteer appointed by 1HeartArt INC., and voting may be opened to the public online through Wishpond.

(9) By entering this Art Challenge, each contestant consents to the use of his/her name, and/or artwork in any merchandise, advertisements, educational materials or publicity carried out or produced by 1HeartArt Inc. and its advertising and promotional agencies without further notice or compensation. 1HeartArt can publish or decline to publish, or use or decline to use, any submitted artwork at 1HeartArt sole discretion. In turn, the contestant still retains the rights to use and publish their artwork.

(10) Prizes are as follows:

The Ten Prize Winner will receive cash prizes as follows (a) 1st: receive $300; 2nd: $200; 3rd: $150; 4th: $100; 5th: $75; 6th: $50; 7th: $50; 8th: $25; 9th: $25; 10th: $25. (b) the public can view and vote on their winning art placed on the 1HeartArt website ( with links to their submitted art pieces and a brief description of the art-piece and the painters bio, also leading the public to voting online via the website or Facebook page. (until the subsequent contest winners are announced).

Contest winners will also be acknowledged on the 1HeartArt  main website.

(11) As last year has proven that amazing art comes from all inmate & ex-offender artists of all ages, race, and sex no matter the offence previously committed.

(12) The Art Challenge Sponsor's rulings are final and without appeal in all matters related to this Contest and the awarding of the Prizes. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations.

(13) All entries become the property of the Art Challenge Sponsor and will not be returned.

(14) Art Challenge Sponsor, its advertising and promotion agencies assume no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, illegible, incomplete, postage-due, garbled or misdirected entries or entries that have been submitted through illicit means, or do not conform to or satisfy the Contest Rules or for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any entry to be received or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the contest.

(15) If you enter, you may be added to the 1HeartArt inmate & ex-offender artists’ list and email addresses. 1HeartArt does not sell or rent email addresses. The Art Challenge Sponsor will not share any personal data about entrants with any other party. The personal data collected for this Art Challenge will not be used for any other purposes unless entrants provide explicit permission as indicated on the entry form.

The Art Challenge Sponsor collects your personal information for the purposes of outreach, program evaluation and to keep you informed about The Art Challenge. The Art Challenge Sponsor may also contact you from time to time with information about other ways you can benefit from other programs available from 1HeartArt like the penpal program, ArtStarter, and more.

(16) By entering this Art Challenge, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Art Challenge Sponsor and their respective employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives, successors, assigns, advertising and promotional agencies from any liability for any loss or damage of any kind to the entrant or any other person in connection with this Art Challenge or participation in any Art Challenge related activities, including but not limited to the use or misuse of a prize or any portion of a prize including personal injury, death or property damage.

(17) The Art Challenge Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, cancel or suspend this Art Challenge should an external circumstances arise which are beyond the reasonable control of the Art Challenge Sponsor. The Art Challenge Sponsor is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this Art Challenge. This Art Challenge will run in accordance with these Art Challenge Rules, subject to amendment by the Art Challenge Sponsor. Art Challenge Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, amend, modify or terminate this Art Challenge or the Rules at any time in its sole discretion and without notice.

(18) Entrants must comply with these rules, and will be deemed to have received and understood the rules if they participate in the Art Challenge.
